Teriyaki beef with stir fry broccoli

As a kid, I watched my grandmother prepare sizzling beef stir-fry with fresh vegetables straight from her garden. She believed in simple, wholesome ingredients that nourished both body and soul. This Beef & Broccoli Teriyaki Stir-Fry is inspired by those home-cooked mealsโ€”quick, flavorful, and packed with nutrients. Now, itโ€™s my go-to dish when I want something delicious yet easy after a long day.

Ingredients:

  • 10 oz (280g) flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1/2 small onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the sauce: Mix soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, ginger, and red pepper flakes in a small bowl.
  2. Cook the beef: Heat sesame oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Sear the beef for 2-3 minutes until browned, then remove from the pan.
  3. Stir-fry veggies: In the same pan, sautรฉ broccoli, bell peppers, and onions for 3-5 minutes until slightly tender. Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  4. Combine & Serve: Return the beef to the pan, pour in the sauce, and add the cornstarch mixture. Stir well and let it simmer for 1-2 minutes until thickened. Serve hot with rice or quinoa.
